Time to post an update... nitrates continue at zero, vodka at 2.5ml, phosphates still at 0.5ppm despite putting PhosGuard in a bag a week ago, I'll probably change it this week to continue absorption.... and green hair algae apparently slowing down their growth. I manually removed some large patches twice. After the last manual removal the growth seems a lot slower.
Magnesium still under the ideal 1280, currently around 1063. That is progress, since I started at 875... used Seachem Aquavitro ions to bring it up to 1063 and now I just started to use Seachem's Reef advantage magnesium. Nothing against ions, it's just that my LFS ran out of it so I switched to Reef advantage magnesium. It is rather cumbersome to have to dissolve it, ions was easier to use.
I'm starting to see new pink coralline algae appearing, which is a good sign that the water quality is improving.
Now, what about the alien? :-) OK, I saw this really very strange creature in the aquarium last Saturday.... I had never seen its body before, but I knew something very ugly was in the system because of a question I posted at ReefCentral.
Here it is hidden in the substrate (sand) with only a small part out of the water. Click to enlarge and see details, have a sick bag ready nearby:
Here is another one on the glass. Sick bag also recommended before enlarging :-) :
What a weird creature..... I didn't record video of it... but I think I should have because it was so strange and wiggly....
Yuck....
